Font Awesome 5.9 is now available on their Github repo. I was wondering whether we can have some method to add them to our drawing. I have their fonts added to /home/.fonts folder of 18.04. I am not sure where and how to fetch these icons. Any help will be great, thanks.

And if you have installed the font on your system, you can instead also just find it as a font to type out. You may need to use the unicode text entry method to get the correct symbols.

Thanks Moini . I tried open symbols. Sadly, 5.9 is not included.I tried typing into the Text box and then selecting font as Font Awesome inside Inkscape. It is a bit buggy.

I tried copy pasting images from the cheat sheet into the blinking text area. Looks it works. Happy for now

If you get the desktop version from here:https://fontawesome.com/how-to-use/on-the-desktop/setup/getting-started
you can load SVG from the repository. You might need a quick viewer to find what you need.

Thanks Polygon. Do you mean importing SVG as we do for other images into Inkscape ?

Yes. Both will work: drag&drop SVG onto the Inkscape canvas and import via file menu->Import (cmd+I) on macOS. A third method will be to open the SVG and copy&paste into your existing opened file. Can´t tell for Windows etc though.
