Hello,
I have 32 rectangoles I want to align one next to the other in 8 rows and 4 columns. I select them all and open the rows and columns dialog. Inkscape gives me as first option a 6x6. So i diminish the number of columns to be 4, but each time the number of rows automatically grows to 9. How can I stop this very annoying thing from happening?
Rows and columns not working
Re: Rows and columns not working
Hi.
The Object - Arrange dialog will automatically adjust to the number of objects selected. ( It will give you the minimum number to include all objects. )
Check the status line at the bottom of the inkscape window for 32 selected objects before invoking the dialog.
Which version of Inkscape are you using? What operating system?
The dialog works as expected on version; Inkscape 0.48+devel r13397
See the manual;

Good Luck.

Re: Rows and columns not working
Hi, thank you for answering.
I'm running Inkscape 0.48.3.1 r9886 on Debian Wheezy.
I checked, at the bottom it says I have 35 objects. As in each rectangle there is a a shape, I grouped it with the container (that is, the rectangle). Yet, it still gives me 35. I'll try and figure out why.
Thanks.

Re: Rows and columns not working
I don't understand..
If I select them one by one they are recognised as 32, if I select them all together (Ctrl+A or with the pointer) they are 35....

Hi.
This happens to me a lot. You most likely have two or more objects on top of each other.
Try to move each one a bit.
You could also have objects with no stroke or fill.
Good luck.
