wishblade cutter

Postby vivvi » Tue May 11, 2010 3:36 am

Hi, Does anyone know if inskcape have found a way for wishblade users to cut in inskcape? I am a member of a craft robo site, and their new software will not let me cut any new version templates. Someone suggested using inkscape, but that doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? Thankyou.

Is wishblade a brand of cutting machine, of model of RoboCraft machine?
Inkscape is an excellent choice for doing the drawings that you want to cut. So you can just dive in with your drawing! Then I assume the SVG file that you create with Inkscape must be sent to the cutting machine. That part I'm not so sure about. I'm not sure if one can just burn an Inkscape file to disc and load it into the cutting machine? Or if some sort of interface is necessary to send the SVG drawing directly to the machine.

All I can suggest is to consult your machine's documention, or maybe there's a forum somewhere on the internet for your particular machine? I know I've seen this issue discussed for other brands of cutting machines, in this forum. So you could search here, and maybe you can pick up some helpful info. After I post this I'll try to find the topic I'm thinking about, and edit in a link.

Edit - Ok, this one pertains to vinyl cutters and I'm not sure if it can be used with your machine....unless your machine IS a vinyl cutter? viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4987

Another re vinyl cutters: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2855&p=17191#p17191

I think this one's about a craft cutter. Nice links in last reply: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=3544

Still can't find the one I'm thinking about, and will leave it to you to finish searching. I'm fairly confident you will get some helpful info, even if it's not for your particular machine. Sorry, I wish I could be more helpful.

Do you have the blue Wishblade or the pink Wishblade? With the blue WB, you may need to install the original driver which allowed owners to use File>Print from Windows programs to cut to their WB. Xyron (the makers of the WB) released an update at some point to prohibit that function because it was allowing their owners to cut TTF fonts from programs like Word versus spending $70 for a cartridge of 3 fonts. HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!! I have the original driver and can help you with that.

If you have the pink Wishblade, no problem. Just use the same instructions that owners of the Silhouette machines are using to cut. Again, you are using File>Print, but you don't have to worry about the driver issue. Xyron finally gave up trying to keep their customers from using their own fonts. : )

You can email me at smccauley45 AT cox DOT net for help with this.

Hi, Thanks for your info, I have downloaded Inkscape and am going to try to get to grips with it .I will let you know if I can get it to work.Up to now I think cutting should be okay, but my problem of using templates that are already made in gsd may prove too complicated for me, but who knows I may work out what to do.Thanks again.
