Hi all, still thinking about an open source creative suite...
It would be wonderful to have GIMP and Inkscape work together, and have the same look and feel.
While we can already theme, change icons and keyboard shortcuts, I wish the interface can be similar between the two programs.
Personally I really like the single window mode of GIMP and its panels. In my opinion, panels (Dialogs) in inkscape takes up more space than needed: even if they can be grouped together, you still have a title bar and a button for every panel, while in GIMP (2.8) the title bar is replaced with tabs (I'm talking about docked panels) that shows only the Icon if there is no space for the text (and by the way, do we need the shortcut to appear in the title and button of the dialog?)
Since both gimp and inkscape are migrating to gtk+3, it would be great to unify the efforts and use a common ui guideline.
I didn't dig on the source yet, but do you think it would be easy to switch to gimp style panels? An most important, do you think it could be a good deal in terms of UI friendliness?
Also, adding the ability to change keyboard shortcuts and the visibility of toolbar buttons directly in inkscape preferences can be a way to make the application more user friendly (well, I know that this type of configuration is made by pro users and not newbies, but still...)
Let me read your thoughts!

Re: GIMP like UI?
should a campaign or a bounty on bountysource help?
but I think it has more to do with putting core developers of both apps together (and the ones of Scribus, too )
