plotter/cutter for stencils

Postby kjw » Wed Jan 20, 2010 3:47 am

Can anyone recommend a low cost plotter/cutter for making stenils? I don't need anything that prints, just cuts, and would like it to handle materials such as vinyl and acetate, with a max cutting size of about 24" across. If smaller is cheaper, I'm still interested.

Thanks!

You can start your research here http://www.uscutter.com/index/page/prod ... uette+Came . You can also check out the MH-Series Vinyl Cutter as well.

Right now I am torn between the Silhouette Cameo which is limited to 10 feet by 12 inches, and the Craftwell Ecraft machine which cuts 12 inches across and is not limited in length. The Ecraft does not use a mat, but from what I have read it leaves small tabs that have to be trimmed off. I have heard a lot of people compliment the detail of the cuts from the Silhouette. If the Silhouette was not limited in length it would be my choice hands down, and if the Ecraft did not leave tabs it would be my next choice. I will probably go with the Silhouette. 10 feet is still a lot of cutting area. I hope to find a Black Friday deal.
