I have no idea why, but now all of the sudden, Inkscape no longer opens... sorta.
I double-click to open it, wait a bit... and nothing happens. So, I opened up Task Manager to see if it shows up, and it does in "Background Processes." Can't do anything else but close it.
I've tried restarting my PC, fully shutting it down for like an hour, even reinstalling Inkscape but nothing worked. Couldn't find anything else, so now I come here asking what the heck I do to fix this. I recently got a drawing tablet too, shame I can't even use it with the program I'm most comfortable using now. :/
[SOLVED] Inkscape no longer wants to open.

Re: Inkscape no longer wants to open.
Did you upgrade to the Windows next version preview that came out recently - creators or something? You can check in your update logs. Also when you reinstalled did you uninstall first? did you delete your inkscape folder from your users folder first?
Your mind is what you think it is.

I use Windows 8. There was an update recently, but I don't think it's what you're talking about. I wouldn't know hot to check, even with the update log.
When I reinstalled it, it did have me uninstall Inkscape first, and as for the last one, no I didn't.

Re: Inkscape no longer wants to open.
If any new fonts were added to the machine, it can take significant time for the Inkscape window to appear, especially if the machine is older/slower.
After Inkscape has rebuilt its font directory, it should restart normally.
Any new software installed on the machine could also install a new font, which could trigger the above scenario.
On my machine, Inkscape will start in about 3 seconds. After installing a new font, it takes about a minute (and the computer is a reasonably fast gaming laptop).

Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Can you check if any of the things described here: https://inkscape.org/learn/faq/#inkscap ... time-start and in the item below, apply to your situation?

That would make sense actually, considering my drawing tablet did come with software that may have added new fonts. After a bit of waiting, it finally opened now.
Thanks!
