.i think it's really an misinterpretation...the octopus is to LARGE to sink a ship?

It might be that the part of the "monster" look like Nessie to the people on the boat when it's actually a much larger animal

And it might look like the octopus wants to sink the ship when it's actually cute and curious

we have two groups of observers:

ones from the boat to whom this look like nessie (my initial association)

and rest of us seeing the enormous octopus with red eyes spreading the tentacles towards one little ship. and of course what are we supposed to conclude from that if not that this thing pose danger to the ship and to the humanity which we are part of.

yet deep inside we can feel that this octopus is just one lonely and curious creature trying to get attention. real danger lies in fact that this octopus desperately crave for attention and in the end its up to us to save this boat from sinking just by paying attention to the world around us (:
