Greetings. Is there a feature to have lines "smooth" automatically in Inkscape? Also other ways to get smooth lines would be very helpful. The reason is because when I work on nodes with my mouse, I get irregular lines and placement of nodes can be noticed, no matter how much I stretch and pull. It's hard to get a freehand drawing's look smooth only by pulse.
God bless you.

Re: Smoothing lines
Yes I already tried it but it tends to distort the drawing before getting desired smooth.
Re: Smoothing lines
Whats your Inkscape version? In the new development builds a new algorithm was implemented to make the Freehand drawn lines smoother. Download the latest version for your OS and see if it helps.
You can try deleting nodes to get it smooth, combine the options for deleting that preserves the path shape (Del) with the deleting that adjusts the path shape to the remaining node handles (Ctrl + Del).
Or use Bezier tool to draw the lines, you have much more control there

Sweet - I didn't know that. I had found the pencil tool pretty hard to control, even with a tablet, so this great news.

Thanks prkos. Those del options really work. Bézier look really smoother, I have to overcome fear and learn to use it. God bless you.

The Bezier tool is an essential tool to know how to use. You can remove all other tools from inkscape and not be limited to what you can draw - it'll just take longer to draw it Anybody wanting to learn how to use Inkscape should start first with learning how to use the bezier tool.

Re: Smoothing lines
Thanks, microUgly. I've just realized it. Freehand does some pain.
Re: [solved] Smoothing lines
If you are using the "Draw Freehand Lines" (F6) , there is a "smoothing" sliding scale under "Layer" and "Object", next to "Mode". You choose how smooth you want your line. You have to set the "Smoothing" factor before you draw your line. There's a bit of trial and error to get it the way you want
