tiled clones can't be converted to paths?

Postby plant » Sat Feb 07, 2015 4:37 pm

hi

i am trying to use inkscape to make a chessboard with the squares made up from multiple holes- so i can use as a spraypaint stencil

i have worked out how to use tiled clones to generate an even grid of circles but i can't convert them to paths to be lasercut.

i have resorted to saving the whole thing as a bitmap, then using the 'trace bitmap' function but the dots come out wobbly, and with 2 paths - inner and outer concentric paths

it seems both COPIES and CLONES cannot be converted into paths.... is that correct?

many thanks for your help... i havebeen trying o google a solutionn for weeks but to no avail.

You can "unclone" or "break the clones link to its parent". Edit > Clones > Unlink Then they will be just paths.
