Object could not be found- Inkscape

Postby RLopez » Mon Jul 14, 2014 10:09 am

hey all,
I created a file (text only) and it wont open in SignCut, I get a pop up saying: No objects could be found. Make sure the file contains a vector graphic and is saved without the compression-flag set.

When I try to Trace Bitmap, nothing shows up in the Preview.

Any thoughts as to what Im doing wrong ? lol

BTW Im trying to create a EPS file StickerTec with outlined text.

If you typed the text in Inkscape, you probably just need to convert to paths. (Select all the text, the Path menu > Object to Path).

If you typed the text somewhere else, you could try to use Trace Bitmap. There's a bug in Trace Bitmap, where the Preview Update button doesn't work, for the Brightness Cutoff option. So you could either use a different option; or actually perform the trace using Brightness Cutoff, and if it's not right, Undo, adjust the Threshold setting, and try again.

I actually don't know what "compression-flag set" means. But I do know there are some specific issues using inskcape with SC. Let's see if I can find a link to the info.... Ok, here it is: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=11849. It's a little outdated, but I think there's a link to a SC forum in there somewhere.

And you could also search Inkscape Cutting Design forum, for info. Or even join and post there, if you like.

Brynn,
Thanks so much for the reply. I will try that.
