Hi,
Today I was following Heathenx tutorial Episode 097 Path along path.
When I tried to follow the exact, in first attempt the solid colors turned like Plastic pipe or should I say Soft drink straw. In second attempt again it was similar like first attempt but this time one color bleed like a leak ink.
I stopped doing work because I do not know if, it due to BUG or not. Otherwise how come color could bleed.
I am a kind of new here therefore, could not add image.
Any advice or suggestion will be helpful.
Bug or not but how to know
Re: Bug or not but how to know
Perhaps your squares (those grouped five) are still Rectangles instead of being transformed (Ctrl+Shift+C) into the Paths?
Re: Bug or not but how to know
I'm not sure I understand what problem you're seeing. It's probably not a bug. But the tutorial was made with Inkscape version 0.47, which is no longer the current version. There have been some new features added since then, including a different way of using Pattern Along Path. So that may be a source of issues you're having. The author is using the PAP extension. There's also a PAP path effect (LPE) which is used a little differently. So first make sure you're using the extension.
Around 7:30 in the tutorial, it explains what I think you might be talking about, but I'm not sure.
You can add a screenshot image in 2 ways, explained here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11753. If you already know how to make a screenshot, then just skip down to uploading. Also, if you could say the time for the tutorial, at the place where you first notice the problem, that will help us understand better too.

Re: Bug or not but how to know
Hi,
Thank you Brynn and Maestral for quick and detailed reply.
After asking question I had uninstalled the Inkscape then re-installed. My version is the latest one.
Once again I applied the method which I had talked about in the question and this time just by one attempt everything worked superb. Since then I created also own designs by changing some settings.
Regarding screen shot, I am aware of screen shot, screen recording etc because I do make tutorials but for Music forum.
As I knew now if, I have to add screen shot or svg file where to upload, surely I will add in future.
Thank you once again for help.
PS. Am I going to forget Adobe Photoshop as I am addict to Inkscape? a kind of sad thing.

Re: Bug or not but how to know
hope you become an inkscape addict. but for pure pixel shifting you still need to use photoshop or gimp or similar raster graphics manipulation program. depends on your particular exact needs at the time. as a side comment: i see a load of people using stolen photoshop as their photo fixup program. that's such a bad idea, as photoshop is not geared to efficiently and nicely fixing up photos..unless you're a real pro.
back to your initial problem. sounds like a problem that got most of us when we first started out with inkscape. it can also get you later on when you forget..that default inkscape installation remembers quite a few styles and things like color/opacity/blur from last time you ran inkscape. i suspect some of your styles and things had changed - as they do during normal operation of inkscape - and these current settings caused you the grief you inksperienced.
did i just make up a new word? the wonders of fridays
