cutting a line out of an object

Postby jkurtz42 » Wed Aug 08, 2018 5:30 am

I'm having an issue trying to cut one side of a triangle out of the shape. Essentially, I just want to remove the side and wind up with a V shape.

Whenever I use the Eraser tool to erase the line, it bends the line around the eraser instead of just deleting the line.

This seems like a simple task, but it's driving me nuts.

Please help.

use the :tool_node: click on the segment you want to delete, or select the endpoints, then click the delete segment button in the toolbar

As a vector graphics editor, Inkscape works differently from raster graphics programs. An Eraser tool is really more suited for raster graphics, but one was added to Inkscape anyway. Although it never has really worked properly for me.

For vector graphics, it's really more typical to edit nodes and paths, when you need to remove something, as druban suggests.

Jkurtz I hope you got the results you wanted. If you have specific questions about how to use the eraser tool and what it is good for, you can start another thread for that, and people will be happy to help you with that, good luck
