Hi guys
I'd like some help with a path question but can't find info on how to add the image to my post. The last time I did it as an attachment - was that correct, or is there another way?

how to add images to posts
Re: how to add images to posts
Hi there!
Well it's always okay to add stuff as an attachment, although granted it has more visual impact to post it within your message.
Notice that in the forum post toolbar (the one that starts with "B, I, U, Quote, etc"), there is a button that says "img". This is the image tag, and you'll want to select a link to your image and then press this button in order to display the link as an image.
So if in your text body you have something like this:
It will appear in your message as so:
Hope this helps, and looking forward to your inquiry. ^^b

Re: how to add images to posts
haha! Shibas are indeed beautiful dogs (with adorably cute puppies) and perfect in every single way.... as long as you don't mind your dog behaving like a cat and pretty much owning you.
Oh, making that image into a link is easy.
Just add it to your message with no tags whatsoever. Observe...

Nothing to laugh, though -- I used to be the same way not too long ago, still am as far as developments in proprietary technologies go. But for anything that's free and open source (like Inkscape), I'm always eager to stay current and involved.

How do I go from a plain file in my documents folder to "http://....."?

You need to upload it somewhere. See "Where can I upload my images?".
Re: how to add images to posts
Yeah, you'd have to follow Sas' links. Unless you own webspace somewhere, you'd need a special image service to host your files online (hence, the http:// prefix).
Without it, all you can really do is just upload attachments instead -- but don't worry, we'd check those out too.

....And the lightbulb FINALLY goes on....
Thank you for your patience! I'll be posting the question that started all of this under a separate topic name in a few minutes.

And after all that, I just wanted to say that Yes, you can upload it as an attachment to the message. Either way is fine!
