Saving a Vectorized Image

Postby Quartz66 » Sun Apr 15, 2018 2:43 pm

I am vectorizing a black and white image in Inkscape and it looks great on Inkscape, but when I export it as a .png file, it does not look good and seems to be pixelated. Any suggestions?
Thanks Quartz66

Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Thanks. I have only been doing computer graphics for a week. I will read the manual. On experimenting, the thing that seemed to solve my problem was to save as PDF.

PDF saves your vector objects as vector objects, without losing quality. PNG format is a raster type. You can set the quality by adjusting the dpi setting in the export dialogue (see where tylerdurden linked you where it says 90). If you set it to too low the PNG will be of low quality. What number did you use there?

After reading the difference between raster and vector, I definitely need to save or export these black and white designs as vector.
Thanks for all the feedback.
