Orange IIe

Postby MavisPuford » Fri May 23, 2008 5:55 am

Made this in a few days..

Description from da:
This little project sort of branched off of a font that I made here with FontStruct: [link]

Obviously it is modeled after the Apple IIe. It's not EXACT. That's why it's an Orange IIe, not an Apple IIe. Anyway, I remember playing Oregon Trail on these babies back in elementary school. Yup, old school.

Zoom in to see it better. kthxbye.

I remember the Apples we had at school had little controller with two buttons that would allow you to toggle through the text and background colours. And we used to play Lemonade Stand and Buck Rogers.

Oh, and I should say that your drawing is really slick work :) I love the little orange logo and the keyboard is really nicely done.

Thanks microUgly. Yeah, that keyboard was a PAIN! I'm glad I had cloned tiles. Still had to tweak them all a bunch though.

I remember there was this great physics game for the Apple IIe where you could drop things like bowling/tennis/soccer/ping pong/whatever balls and see how they bounced etc. Good times. Oregon trail was probably my favorite though, even though I was never good at it and I always lost all my supplies when I crossed the rivers and then all the members of my family died horrible deaths. Yes, those were good times indeed! :P

Hey, it's really cool! But to be frank I don't like that light effect on the screen, and there's definitely something wrong whith keyboard's perspective.

Are the keys supposed to look as if they're overlapping? Or is that how the IIe was? Anyway, it's awesome work! Very detailed.

Thanks for the comments! I love getting feedback of all forms. Yeah, the keyboard is definitely an odd looking one. ;) I chose to do it that way because it was the easiest method I could think of for creating tons of keys at slightly different angles. I didn't really want to spend too much time on the keys since the process was already monotonous in the first place. Tweaking them was a pain :P
