"X" Marks The Spot

Postby Inkscaping » Mon Oct 24, 2011 12:38 pm

From time to time, without my knowing a red outlined box appears with a redline going from top left corner to bottom right corner & another separate red line going from the top right corner to bottom left corner forming a red outline box with an "X" in the center. What is this? What does it mean? Why is it there? How do I remove it? Anyone have a clue? lol!

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium with Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 being my preferred browser. Thank you community for your help. I'll be back often. Keep on escapin to Inkscape. lol! Enjoy your day.

Sounds like you have linked to an outside image from your document, but the image isn't in that location any more. Look at the status bar when you select that red X object, it should say where it's looking for the image.

If you often forget about linked images maybe you should always embed them into the document instead of linking to outside files. It's a common problem ;)

I did choose to import an image from my computer. That's how I always do it. I used the embed feature as you mentioned but from time to time, I get the big red "X". Go figure. lol!

Sounds like a bug, what does the statusbar say when you select this object?
