Q about Setting a default for the page border

Postby chocwrap » Sat Mar 18, 2017 2:20 am

Apologies if this has been asked before but I'm unable to find the answer..

Is it possible to permanently get rid of the page border?

I'm able to go to Doc Properties and untick the page border but wonder if it's possible to set this as a default somehow.

Thanks.

I guess Inkscape starts with an empty file called "default.svg" or "default.en.svg" or other files depending on the language (.de, .fr, .it, ...).
In your Inkscape directory search for "default" and overwrite this file with an empty file having the page border unchecked.

You can set your own default.svg by setting the Document properties as you like them, and saving the file (default.svg) in your user profile:
(assuming Windows) ..\users\yourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Inkscape\templates\

Then, when you launch Inkscape, the default should open as a "new document".

When you upgrade Inkscape, these users folders should persist, keeping your custom symbols, templates, extensions, etc.

Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

This is a little dated by now, but still provides correct info: http://libregraphicsworld.org/blog/entr ... n-inkscape

I don't think it's too technical, but feel free to ask if you get stuck.
