Can anyone else use Object menu >Filter Effects? Every time I try, Inkscape crashes. I'm going to search over at Launchpad, while waiting for replies. Just trying to figure out if it's just me or if it's been reported.

It's the first I've heard of it. It should definitely be working since it's one of the key features introduced in 0.46. You might like to try a fresh install of Inkscape.

Yeah, I didn't find anything about it at Launchpad.

Can you tell me what is the difference between Object menu > Filter Effects, and the Effects menu items? Because sometimes I get the same crash, same error message, when using various things in the Effects menu. There are so many choices in the Effects menu, that I haven't been able to narrow down whether it's happening with specific effects and not others, or if it's a random thing. But it's definitely the same error/crash.

Sounds like something is corrupted somewhere. Nuke your current Inkscape install and download a fresh one.

If that doesn't work, it's something on your computer...
