Pull white image from black background
How can I go about saving JUST the white image from a background which is black. Or any other color for that matter? Attached is just an example certainly not what I want, but more the technique for how to extra the logo, picture, whatever it may be from the black background.

Either use a raster graphics editor, like Gimp (https://gimp.org), because this image is a raster graphic, and those programs are made for working with this kind of picture.
Or vectorize the image and delete the parts that you do not need afterwards. Learn about vectorization in Help -> Tutorials -> Tracing.

I'd look for vector versions of the artwork and delete the background shapes.
If you can only find a bitmap version of the artwork, tracing can be used.

Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

Can also use filters as in the example:
-however I don't think that's what you are looking for.

Re: Pull white image from black background
That particular image would be well suited for auto tracing, such as with Trace Bitmap, as Moini and TD both suggested. But Trace Bitmap will not produce a good result for all images. In some cases, you might need to "manually" trace with the Pen/Bezier tool.
If you want a raster image for the final result, use a raster editor. Inkscape is a vector editor.

Artwork like logos will almost always benefit by conversion to vector, even if final output is raster, particularly if the artwork will be scaled.
