Hey Guys,
I've converted a bitmap into a shape and I'm not looking for a way to add some colours into it.
I'd like to get to this :
I've already looked but didn't find a way to achieve this two colours background and shape.
Any tip is welcome
Thanks in advance and have a nice day.
Fill shape with two colours

Hi.
Try different settings with the trace bitmap tool on the original raster image -multiple scans, two colours.

Many ways,
Here's a hint:

Download this image to dis-assemble in Inkscape.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Re: Fill shape with two colours
Hey guys,
Thanks for the tip but I didn't manage to create what I want.
I've been playing the last 2h with Inkscape and didn't manage much.
I tried the trace bitmap with two colours but the result was sharp enough.
I then tried playing with rectangle and fill bucket tool which I find extremely non user friendly.
When I click a path to fill it with paint nothing happens; really weird.
Anyway, would you have other ideas on how to proceed ?
I'm now at this stage, but I don't know how to change the colours.
Basically the black must become 660000 and the white must become black

Hi.
Follow the explanation that tylerdurden made.
You have to edit a few nodes in the file below to make the "seam" straight - nice practice for you!

Right Click the image to download.
Have a look at The Manual.
I recommend going through the tutorials in "Quick Start" section.
This will get you up to speed in no time!

Not sure how this would work for a logo, probably would edit it alot, but
here is a quick example how a little editing and combining paths can result in compound paths with such "negative effect" hole.
Slightly different from the previous ones.

Hi.
Not sneaky - just smarter! - The Lazur Way!
(Normally Lazur's solutions is way over my head but I could understand this one)

Re: Fill shape with two colours
Thank's for the kind words, but that fill rule trick I learned here somewhere, have to dig deep now where it was exactly.
This had a similar suggestion, so it should have been earlier.
Earlier than Jul 03, 2013.
Tylerdurden wrote this, showing the same concept.
And this one.
To be honest I'm searching for a post when I suggested a clip-like solution and probably ~Suv or Xav suggested the fill rule trick right after.
Will link if I can find for the right credits.
Have no clue what word to search for though.
