Align Text to Curve?

Postby Kjohrf » Thu Nov 12, 2009 4:38 am

No, I don't want Text / Put on Path. :)

I have a number of horizontal text objects. I have a curve to the left of them. I want each text object to be moved to the left until just touching the curve. The text would remain horizontal and straight.

I can do it by hand but it'd be nice to do it automatically. I could put all the text in one multi-line text object, and flow that, but I'd rather just have an "align to path" option. Am I missing such a feature?

Have you tried turning the text object into vertical text?

No. That's not what I want, but thanks. I want to keep the text straight and horizontal. But flush left to a curve object.

You could try the extension discussed in this question on launchpad: «How can I place multiple objects on a curve?» - the most recent version is listed now in the Inkscape Wiki Extension Repository as 'Place Objects on Path'.

[ caveat: it's just an idea - I haven't tried if it works with text, only did some quick tests with different shapes when I first heard about the updated version ;-) ]

I didn't it carefully enough the first time. I'd love to know what the extension does too :)

I'd like to get a similar result to your pasted image.
Could you provide me with a step by step guide on how to achieve that? I'm pretty new to Inkscape.
