What did you expect for svg 2.0 ?
I'd really like to be able to use multiple stroke at a time.
It would be way more powerfull and easier than dynamic/linked offset
What are your wishes for svg2.0 ?
Re: What are your wishes for svg2.0 ?
stroke-scales vs stroke width
Re: What are your wishes for svg2.0 ?
Hi v1nce,
So it would be similar to using Pen or Pencil in spiro spline mode -- it automatically creates a pattern along path?

Gradients.
With non-linear interpolations.
Conic gradients.
Gradient meshes?
Like at least a way for a gradient to bent along a path, just as the original post's strokes.
Knowing that there will be a nice extrapolated line corner for strokes in inkscape, that would be nice to have in svg 2.0.
Flowed texts.
Layers, preferably with adjustable compositing.
Some working on the path tools: I want the ability to display the radius/curvature of each path points live -maybe that's more of an inkscape wish.

Except it won't work for pattern but only for [collection of] stroke (so It should be easier to implement).
but it will make the file way lighter than use of LPE and much simpler and reusable than using duplicate.

Haven't read much about version 2.0, so the ideas might already be planned. Anyway, here's my wishes:
1: Styles.
2: Full layer support (grouping objects will save layer status for each object in same group).
3: Dynamic offset as a property of an object.
4: Custom snap points in objects (that overrides other closely snap points).

I don't know if what follows can be done with SVG 1.1 but i just don't know how to do it:
- A path's atribute to render text into the path.
- A way to do parametric objects (tables, grids, human figures, etc)
- mmm... well you have a list exm:{20,30,40} and that list apply to the attribute of several objects (like the width or the red component) (without javascript)
- I think that you can add styles with CSS right now.
- Yes, gradients following a path.
- Coordinates transformation?

If you have problems:
1.- Post a sample (or samples) of your file please.
2.- Please check here:

Re: What are your wishes for svg2.0 ?
I fill my wishlist:
5: Coordinate system. It should be possible to place origo anywhere in the canvas, not just lower left corner.
6: Links to objects or group of objects within an external svg file (relative paths as well as absolute paths). For now, I prefer to call it an object file. It should work just like any clone, exept it represent a an external file. An Object file can contain one or several objects/groups.
It's also wish svg 2 to support cloned objects with source object located within other SVG files.
7. Custom length unit. If things are meassured compared to a unity that doesn't fit.

Non rasterizing gradients, so it can be (more) competitive with AI. I really need gradients in my work, and I really don't want to have to buy AI just so I can use them, especially when I love Inkscape so much...
Then ditto what Lazur said about the other kinds of gradients.

Then the wishes may apply to an even later version of SVG, maybe 3.0.
8. Shadow object. A shadow object should basically act as a clone of it's original object, but in one color only, black should be default but other colors would be possible too. The opaquae of a shadow can be from transparent to fully opaqua. Blur factor, size and perspective should be allowed to alter by the user.
The shadow should always follow it's original. Both for moving* , rotation and scaling.
* By moving I also mean in z-direction and between layers

a specially dedicated filter should be in the next svg release.

though it doesn't support rotation/perspective.
and it lacks a spread property too http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www ... /0059.html
