If I want to open an Inkscape document using Corel Draw, what format should I save the document in? Plain SVG?

Inkscape is a very advanced SVG editor, so that many things you do with it won't be supported in other. I can't see no other solution that using another standard like PDF, EPS, or finally and unfortunately PNG. have you tried converting through SK1 ? sk1 does good job with CorelDraw, so that might be a possibility too !

Plain SVG, yes
