Are you referring to the LPE (Path Effects > Hatch)?
I haven't noticed any slowness with the Hatching, and this is on an ellipse twice the size of a real egg. I suppose if you were talking about a whole page it might be a little slow. How large is the item? I wonder if there could be some incompatibility of the path effect with Egg-Bot?

The only other way I know about is to draw the hatchmarks by hand, which would probably take much longer. Maybe someone else will have a better idea?

I replied in your other topic about the wavy lines. (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9735)

I don't know why the Hatch effect is causing Inkscape to crash when using Egg-Bot extension. Maybe someone else who might be familiar with Egg-Bot, can reply and offer some comments?

The fonts are all bold? Do they just appear to be bold, or do you see that the bold button (B) is engaged on the text control bar or Text and Font dialog? Sometimes I've noticed when using the Text tool, that if I make a font bold to see how it looks, then unless I disengage it, all the fonts that I select are bold. I realize this is not the usual behavior one expects with a text editor, but once we understand that's how it works with Inkscape, we can try to remember to disengage it, even though we may have selected a different font. I'm not sure if that would be a bug, or whether it might have alread been reported. But it's easy to work around -- just remember to disengage the bold button.

If that doesn't solve the bold problem, please let us know, and we'll try to troubleshoot further :D
