Hello,

I see on http://www.inkscape.org that latest version of Inkscape is 0.48.4.
There are inkscape packages also at sourceforge, where the latest stable seems to be 0.48.5.
Also on the inskcape's launchpad is stated that inkscape 0.48.5 was released.

So, which is the latest stable (official) version of inkscape and where?
Is sourceforge distribution official?

(I know this is silly but...) I can't find references to this forum on http://www.inkscape.org. Why?

I just learned about 0.48.5 as well. From what I can tell (having recently subscribed to the dev mailing list) the announcement and links should be made any time now.

I realize that is a rather odd organization of community info. I have edit privileges at inkscape.org, and have plans and permission to reorganize some of that info. But the page I need (on staging site) is buggy, and I'm waiting for that to be fixed.

Indeed, I would have expected the forum to be referred in the Community section.

Well, the Inkscape site points you to sourceforge...
Sometimes linux releases come later by the distro policy...

Releases are announced after packages are made for every platform, and after someone takes the time to update the site. So a release may exist for your platform before it's announced.
