Hi Friends

Hey, I was looking at the tavmjong Guide and noticed an Appendix page for Inkview
(http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... kview.html). It says it's a program for displaying .svg files. I would find this really helpful, because I normally use the thumbnail view in the Windows Explorer Pictures directory, to organize and access my images. But .svg files can't be displayed. This means I have to remember the exact file names of my .svg images, to find them. So if there were a program that displays .svg files, which it sounds like Inkview is, it would be really helpful to me.

So my question is how activate Inkview. On the page I referenced above, it says

Inkview can only be used from the command line.

But I don't know 1) how to use the command line to access Inkview, or more importantly 2) if this program would really display .svg files in Windows Explorer, as I described above, if it can only be called up from Start > Run > cmd.exe.

Can anyone please clear this up for me?

1) I don't know about windows, but in linux, you can just write, in terminal (from the directory where file is present) and it displays the file, I think it should be same in windows too.

2) No, it won't work that way. Though, someone might be able to use inkview (or it's code) in their own file explorer to show thumbnails of .svg files, but I don't know of anyone doing that.

I use Directory Opus as my file manager on Windows, and it allows you to specify viewers for certain filetypes. I believe I had it set up to use Acrobat as a viewer for SVG files - I haven't tried Inkview though.

Check this *t out
1. (On Windows) bring up the context menu for svg - Open with - point to Inkscape.exe - ALWAYS.
2. same as above but point to inkview.exe - ALWAYS.

Effect - from now on when you doubleclick on a svg file it will quickly open in minimalistic inkview window. To open in Inkscape click on Open with - Inkscape

I also use the SVG viewer for Opera which is the best SVG viewer I know of. It doesn't require Opera to be launched!

A new version of this viewer, now practically bug-free. Undisputedly the best SVG viewer out there!

P.S. Please read the notes on keyboard shortcuts. It will make it all easier. Also try not to use ctrl+scrolwheel. It "brakes" the viewer window (not author's fault) - zoom is done with scrollwheel alone!
