Regional Variations with OpenType fonts

Postby awesomekeeps » Tue Mar 21, 2017 8:37 am

Hi everyone, I have got an OpenType font that supports regional stylistic variants, including regional Cyrillic fonts. I just want to know how to activate these features via Inkscape? Furthermore, can you tell me how to get the different number styles, i.e. Tabular, Proportional, Old Style? Any direct help will be much appreciated! :-)

Hi awesomekeeps,

if you're using Inkscape 0.92(.1 - recommended), then you can access the open type features via the third tab in the text and font dialog.
You need to set the font, and apply. Then you can see which open type features are available for the font of the current selection, and change them. Then hit 'apply'.

You can find the Number styles at the bottom. Don't know about the regional styles, but there is a free form field, too - maybe that can help, if you know what needs to be entered (no clue!).
Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!

Oh, forgot this: You can also activate this on only the selected text within the current text object.
