the old failure to load problem.

Postby iced_cream » Thu Oct 22, 2015 5:01 pm

I tried renaming the file, and it didn't work. I'm on windows 8.1 and inkscape .91

when i try to open it it just says "Failed to load the requested file C:\Users\lenny\Desktop\game\logo 1.svg"

https://www.dropbox.com/s/e5k5wa3mdcpbw ... 1.svg?dl=0

any ideas how to fix this? it's a logo for a business i'm starting with my wife.

Thanks for the help!

Hi iced_cream,

did the file work previously? Did Inkscape crash the last time you used the file? Do you have any auto-saves? It doesn't seem to contain any useful info. It's binary. So, as far as I understand, either you're trying to spread a virus here, or Inkscape has messed up the file completely...

(probably the latter...)

Hello
I don't know in what system you are: Windows, Mac, Linux?

Try to check in your system if you have another version of the SVG file. Try to open in a text editor. If you can see something like

Code: Select all

<svg ......> .....etc.... </svg>

then there is still hope.
To upload a file here your file you have to use attachments tab that appears bellow this postin editor. The file has to be around 100kb. I don't have a exact number right now.
Usually, dropbox links works here. But You can try another service
If you have problems:
1.- Post a sample (or samples) of your file please.
2.- Please check here:

3.- If you manage to solve your problem, please post here your solution.

You can activate autosave in Inkscape:
Edit -> Preferences -> Input/Output -> Autosave (and make sure you know where it saves them, not into a directory that gets wiped when you turn the computer off, like /tmp on Linux)

I tried opening in Inkscape, and also got "failed to load". Then I saved the file, where Windows IDs it as an "Invalid SVG file". Next I tried opening in Notepad++, which shows a page full of "NUL". When I tried to look with just plain Notepad, it's completely blank.

I'm hoping you have an older version somewhere :(

(Unless dropbox might have affected it somehow?)
