Postby vala » Mon Nov 16, 2009 7:31 pm

hello i'm tryin to vectorize text but i want that each letter is vectorized
as a vector line and not as the egde of the letter
there's a faster way than draw over each letter usin pen or pencil tool?

Just turn your text object into path (Path > Object to path). It will probably all be grouped so ungroup it or enter a group to get to each individual letter.
just hand over the chocolate and nobody gets hurt

prkos, I think instead of ungroup you mean Path>Break apart since a single text object converts to a single path on Path>Object to path. Note that when you do Path break apart your letters with holes in them will appear to have lost the holes. Fear not, the hole is simply it's own path now with the same color fill as the other paths. Just select the hole path and the letter path and do Path>Combine and you'll have your proper letter form again.

There is SD_stroke font as a strokefont is composed by single open paths.
I posted "SD_Stroke Title Arts Tools, Brushs and Extensions" at Inkscape & Web thread.

see url, if this is your help.

Ah, sorry, I should have mentioned that I'm using pre 0.47 and there you get a group of paths when converting text, it's to preserve the different color and style information you may have in a single text object.

So users of 0.46 follow the post from llogg ;)

Very interesting work !

On the other hand there is also hope that in the future SVG stroke fonts will be fully supported in Inkscape. Then you will be able to create your own stroke fonts and use them inside the same svg document.

Will stuffs plan to support a SVG font in Inkscape?
If having that, when is it possible?
