Hi again,
Ok, just want to pick this back up again, and hopefully bring info together in order to file bug report. I read through the link ~suv provided from the mailing list on Node Tool Testing, which reported the same issue, but nothing significant was reported subsequently (on item #12....item #15 received some attention). So here's what we have by my reckoning:
- With nodes selected, 0.47 info area, it used to say something like "1 of ## nodes selected, cusp, one handle retracted" or "1 of ## nodes selected, end node". Details:
some combination of: 1 of ## nodes selected, cusp, smooth, end node, with one handle retracted, with both handles retracted. If it was an end node, then cusp, smooth and handle info was not reported. (WinXPsp3, 0.47 stable release) - With nodes selected, 0.48 info area, now says "1 of ## nodes selected". (Win7, 64-bit, 0.48 stable release)
- With mouseover nodes, 0.47 info area -- I don't know, never noticed, and no longer have 0.47 installed.
- With mouseover nodes, selected or unselected, 0.48 info area, says only "Smooth node" or "Cusp node". (Win7, 64-bit, 0.48 stable release)
I much preferred the 0.47 functionality. But I could get by with 0.48, if "End node" was reported somewhere, anywhere (selected or mousedover). I do a lot of node editing, and really need to know which nodes are end nodes.
Druban reports that on WinXP, all the node info IS reported on mouseover of selected nodes:
I notice that although I get all the info on the node when the cursor is over it, when the cursor moves away from the node it goes to saying '1 of __ nodes selected'
One thing I notice - and I don't know if this is your issue - is that the cursor has to be pretty accurately over the node to display the info. Close enough doesn't seem to work at all.Maybe this is what has changed...
I don't think I answered this before. But no, that's not the issue. The node changes color when the mouse is in place, so that there can be no mistake.
Is this enough info to take to Launchpad, or should I wait for more reports? Or maybe it's been fixed by now?
Thanks for your help
