Hi.

Bad planning often lead me to use Document properties -> Page -> Fit page to selection. However, I want more space on all sides. I can always make canvas bigger by entering some numbers under the Custom size inputs. And later on I can select the whole drawing and move it up and right to give more space on bottom and the left side.

Hovewer: This I think could ve done an easier way: How about being able to drag the canvas border so the drawing get a better position when printing? Closer to middle.

Btw: I hate to select all and then position it with respect to the outer border. It tends to get out of correct snapping positions when I do so.

I would LOVE to be able to position the page borders by dragging them! ...especially if they could be snapped to existing grids/guides. Otherwise, as you've mentioned, you can no longer snap, reducing the ability to edit after using 'Fit page to selection'. I do make sure to only use that button as the last thing I do when preparing an image for upload. But I agree that improvements could be made.

What about an option with 'Fit page to selection' to keep grids/guides aligned with the image, rather than with the new page border?

Fit border to selection:

The thing that will bother me about a solution like this is pretty much the same as export the drawing (rather than the whole page). There will be no free spaces between the uttermost edges of the drawing and the image borders.

Dragging the border like mention earlier, I'll be able to export drawing AND having some free space between image border and drawing AND i'll preserve objects position to grid.


Also, I see the need for moving the borderwithout resizing it. That's because I won't need to drag the drawing itself, as it's likely that it miss the position to grid while moved.
