Windows 7 - Frequent Crashes

Postby kreeves » Fri Dec 14, 2012 6:59 pm

Does anyone know if there is a problem with the latest supposedly stable version of inkscape v0.48.2-1 and window 7?

I am having the program hang up and give me a message no disk in the hard drive, this message cannot be closed except vie the task manager.

Once this message comes up it re appears with ever instance of trying to open Inkscape.

the only solution is to completely uninstall Inkscape then reinstall it.

You may like to try the suggestion at viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2037#goto-delpref

Completely unisntalling and reinstalling Inkscape is a suitable thing to try.

Hi.

I have the same problem after accessing a file on a USB card reader "drive" .
The error message pops up if you have a drive letter "I".

It does also affect GIMP as they are sharing the same config files. ( GTK susbsystem)

As a temporary solution I assigned a new drive letter to the offending drive.
Right click My Computer - Manage - Disk Managment - Change Drive letter.

I know it sounds too easy, but sometimes a problem like this can be fixed by restarting the computer. Maybe you could try that if it happens again. Of course, ALWAYS good idea to restart after installing anything, even re-installing.
