is it only my PC or Developmente Versions of the last days have issues importing bitmaps?
I tried the official 0.46 and it works well, but I miss some enhancements I got used to.
Up to one week ago I had no problems with 0.47 pre-releases.

Although you haven't explained what happens when you import.

Sorry, I get a complete crash of Inkscape when I try to import a bitmap.
This happens while I'm just browsing bitmaps in the Import dialogue.
By the way I'll try again with the future development versions, just hope some developer can check it out.

I tested with build 19763 (Aug 29) and yesterday I download the source code and compiled it and that version also didn't crash.

If the latest build also crashes for you, let me know and I'll download the same version and test it.

In the last days I tried all the newest builds (19808 - 19815 - 19816 - 19824) with no luck.
Honestly I don't remember which one I was using before, but usually I download a new build every week or so.
I'll try to login as a different user to make sure it's not my profile, but I keep the PC quite clean and should not be so.

Just tried 11-september development release, still no joy. Something changed nevertheless, now I successfully imported a couple of PNG bitmaps, but the application crashed while trying to preview BMP and JPG as well.

Just tried my current SVN and can import jpegs via both the import dialog or drag and drop without any problem. Did have this issue yesterday, so it may be fixed, or there may be some obscurity that needs to be there to crash it. Will keep an eye out to see if I can reproduce it.
