I realize information relating to the next version of inkscape (.47 at this point in time)...
Can be found on the web else where in various places around but to be honest it would be very handy (especially to spark discussion on this forum)...
If a point form synopsis could be written in a new dedicated forum section...
This would just be.....(in point form)

A list of all planned updates for the new version with a little note at the end...planned, inprogress or complete...
(ie... the full list of new additions planned for the new version and a brief description and link to relevant wiki ETC)

This would not so much be a full duplicate of existing info which already exists on other sites but a brief point form synopsis (with links) so as to keep readers informed as to what is coming up to spark debate and discussion...

Plus also an estimated time frame for the next release....

i think this would be really cool....to help new forum members locate this info and investigate things in more detail and also to serve as a nut shell synopsis for people to browse and spark ideas for discussion....

A new forum section could be created specifically to discuss new features in the development versions. But my concern is that this is an unofficial forum and I don't want to encourage people to toot they're horns about this feature and that feature with the impression that discussing it here will make a difference--this is a "users" forum, not a "developers" forum so you can't assume the people writing these features will ever read your words here. I don't even like the "Inkscape ideas" section for that reason, but those sorts of discussion will start here whether I like them or not, so I had to give them a home. Although I try to stress that "Inkscape ideas" is a place to formulate and refine your ideas, before requesting them.

The other problem is, who would maintain the information?

Also an excellent place for previews is Screenshots section although there aren't many there for 0.47 atm http://www.inkscape.org/screenshots/index.php?lang=en

I believe the release date for 0.47 is sometime this year
If I recall correctly there was an idea last year to release by the end of the year but it just didn't happen. For now it seems it might come out in 3-4 months from now, unless something changes it
