Hello,
This is probably a dumb question, but I couldn't find anything on
google. I am always making the same shapes and copying them from an old
drawing to a new one, etc. I would like to export each of my custom
shapes into an individual inkscape svg file, and be able to use them
when making new drawings. How can I do this? I tried putting just one
shape in a new drawing and saving it, but it saves the whole drawing, I
just want the shape.
Thank you,
Gabriel
PS
Does anyone also know how to create a sort of palette that contain all
my shapes (if I can find a way to export them of course) so I can just
click on one to add it without having to open them through the open dialog?
[solved] save/export custom shapes?
Re: save/export custom shapes?
Hello,
I think I have found how to save a custom shape. I found this :
http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/TricksAndTips#Adjusting_the_Canvas_Size_to_Fit_Your_Image
and I guess I put the shape in a new canvas ans follow the guide and save it. I still don't know how to create a sort of
shape palette that can be easily/quickly accessed from the Inkscape GUI without having to use the open dialog and naming conventions, etc. Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Gabriel

Re: save/export custom shapes?
I just create a single svg file that I copy and paste useful bits into. then just keep it open in the background and grab bits whenever you need them.
Just make sure to open it from the same session of inkscape so that cross document c/p works.
