Hello there,
I need to create a certain graphic. My lecturer tells me he only has CorelDraw and he wants me to make it in it. I refuse to do it as I find Inkscape a lot esier to use. I created one and saved as .svg and thought there would be no problem opening it in corel. Appereantly there was. All graphics was mixed and looked bugged. Weird thing is It was bugged in a different way for me when I opened it in CorelDraw X6 and for my Lecturer in CorelDraw X3.
Heres an example:
heres the look of it in Inkscape:
And heres the same file opened in Corel:
Does anyone know what could be the case here? I thought the .svg is a standard that is read the same way everywhere. I would aprichiate any help!

Re: Opening Inkscape file using CorelDraw
Not all software interprets a file in the same way.
Some things I would explore for sharing to Corel:
Saving a copy as "Plain SVG"
Saving a copy as PDF
Saving alternates of both above with text converted to paths.
If layers were used in the Inkscape svg, maybe try all elements in the same layer, using z-order to organize foreground/background.
(I'm not by a Corel machine at the moment to test.)

Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Re: Opening Inkscape file using CorelDraw
Hi.
The default working resolution may differ, inkscape uses 90 dpi, corel may use 72 (?), thus the size can differ if you are not working with pixels explicitly.
You may or may not used arcs/ellipses/circles for the buttons, and text objects for the arrows.
Better convert them to paths (Ctrl+Shift+C), preferably ungroup the arrows (Ctrl+Shift+K) and merge double nodes.

Hey guys, thank you for fast help. Ctrl+Shift+C on every object made the trick.

Hello
- Could it be possible to share the file (not only the screenshot), or a sample where you know the bug exist?
- You, or your lecturer, are using the same version of corel draw? Are you using the same O.S?. It could be not an Inkscape's fault. Here, I couldn't say more, because, If some of you are using Apple systems, I couldn't help. But anyway, just mentioning.
- Are you using special fonts?
- Can you open your svg in a modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, even Opera, NOT IE). If there are mistakes in the render in a web browser, then the SVG have to had some bugs.
Edit: o well, problem solved... but It's always good to get a checklist

Hi there,
- I am using Aleo fonts,
- Me and my Lecturer are using different COrel versions,
- I can open the svg without problems in Firefox

Re: Opening Inkscape file using CorelDraw
Thanks for sharing,
It seems that it was more a font problem in first place.
The "Convert all to paths" (shift+ctrl+c), it's a good general solution. The text is also converted to paths, so it can't be edited with text tools anymore. In your case, this may not be important. I don't know a way to embed fonts in a svg. You can see the svg correctly because you have installed the font in your system. In my case, and with your lecturer, we don't, and the text doesn't look good.
In the case of the circles... I have to say that the svg-importer in Corel Draw it's not well implemented, so you and your lecturer will allways had this problem with shapes done in Inkscape (circles, rectangles, stars, etc, etc). and maybe clip-paths, gradients...
Maybe the last version of Corel Draw have solved that problem... at least, it's good to know, (or remember) that until version x6, there are incompatibilities in the svg format.
