I'm using Inkscape 0.46 (Windows) and dragging the scaling handles of grouped objects is extremely slow and frequently it crashes inkscape. Am I the only one who is experiencing this?
Otherwise I'm very impressed with the new features of inkscape, super!

No I haven't seen this, but if it does then this is pretty serious. I will have a look at what's happening, but to do that I need some help. For example, if this is related to a specific file, then it would really help if you could upload or send this file. I'll try to reproduce this behaviour. Or maybe you can describe in a few steps what exactly you're doing?

Hi,
To day I tried opening the same file on a different workstation. This was a much slower PC and yet the dragging operation is much quicker. The machine I see the problem on is an MCAD workstation (4GB/Nvidia Quadro FX) and the machine where there much less of a problem is a simple office desktop.
Unfortunately I can't do that because of they proprietry techical illustrations.
I will try to open the same files on a linux desktop tonight to see waht happens there.

I fixed the problem selecting everything in the drawing, copying and then pasting it into a new drawing.

I am suffering from this problem all the time, as in during a session it will crash and lose data a few times per hour. I frequently use grids and snap to grids. While dragging or moving (particularly while moving a scaling handle) is when the crashes most often occur. They usually result in data loss.
Windows XP, version 0.46. This is happening on all three computers I use (work, home, laptop) and I have come to accept it as a fact of life for working with Inkscape.
The problem does not occur when disabling all snapping, but of course that doesn't suit the way I work. Hope this is fixed soon.

Could you please try a recent development build? You can download one from the download page. Lot's of improvements have been made to the snapping code since v0.46, see http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... 7#Snapping. These recent builds might be even more unstable, but it would be good to know if this specific bug you're running into has been solved.... If not, then I should definitely look into this....
