Hi,
I'd like to do something very simple which I am used to from pixel-based image manipulation programs like the Gimp: I'd like to select objects of identical color (or any other style element).
Why? Because I have graph plots (SVG files) which contain overlapping, noisy graphs and I need to change the colors of the single graphs. But each graph consists of thousands of lines, let's say dots (for simplicity). Each graph is of one color and the objects of all graphs share a single layer. Due to the high amount of objects it's not possible to select them manually.
Is there a way to select all dots of a single graph?
Thanks

Ok, I discovered that it's possible to replace a color using Effects > Color > Replace Color.
But still: is it also possible to select objects by color or any other style feature?

Re: Selecting Objects of same Color/Style
I've run into this kind of situation before, when there is a hopeless number of objects to consider selecting them one at a time. One thing I've done, that's been successful, is to "rubberband select" everything, then holding down the Shift key, click the one background that you don't want selected. That will deselect the background, or graph in your case, if I understand correctly, but still leave all the objects selected.
Did you say the objects are on the same layer as the graph or background? I'm not clear on that. But if the graph is on a different layer than the objects, you could just turn off the visibility of the graph layer, select all the objects, do whatever you need to do, and then turn back on the visibility of the other layer. (Or temporarily put it on a different layer.)
I hope I've understood your problem?

Yes, there's only a single layer.
Re: Selecting Objects of same Color/Style
Could you temporarily put the graph on a different layer, while you do whatever you need to do with the lines?
