Some objects ignore layer order

Postby OniOniOn » Sat May 09, 2015 1:23 am

I was making image with many layers... One of the object has error and even if I put it on the top layer it is still hidden under the lowest layer's object. I copied the object, made new layer, group, nothing work. I drew new and it works fine. How do I restore it? I would prefer not to draw it again.

Hello,
Can you share your SVG design?... or an example perhaps?

Brainstorm:
- Use the XML panel, and check the object
- Undo (Ctrl + Z)
- Post a screen shot
- Hide the layers
If you have problems:
1.- Post a sample (or samples) of your file please.
2.- Please check here:

3.- If you manage to solve your problem, please post here your solution.

Maybe you are not using the proper technique for moving the object to different layers. Perhaps you have the Selection control bar buttons for changing the z-order confused with layers.

To move an object to another layer, use Shift + PgUp to move to next layer up, or Shift + PgDn to move to next layer down. If there are many layers, and you don't want to move one at a time, you can Select and Cut, then select the new layer (from Layers dialog) and then Edit > Paste in Place (or the key shortcuts, whatever they are).

Here is the sample svg file so you can check the problem...: http://wikisend.com/download/993724/Sample.svg

I belive it's caused by the blend mode/filter that you used.

Beneath the row of buttons is a drop-down menu for the Blend mode. This is a short cut to applying the Blend filter to the entire Layer. The Normal entry corresponds to no Filter. Selecting one of the other entries creates a Blend filter with the selected mode. The first input to the filter is the Layer (recall that a Layer is just a Group) and the second input is the Background Image. If the menu is returned to the Normal setting, the Blend filter is automatically deleted.

Layers-Menu

Once you changed the layer mode to screen, it applies the filter to all objects inside the layer -group-,
and if you copy the object from one layer to another, the filter is preserved.

If you want it to get back to normal, just remove the filter.

Thank you so much!!! I will show you the piece once it's done!
