Have been searching the board without luck to find any answer so I guess I'm the only one NOT able to get this to work!
How to place text to path such as a line made by me or a circle as an example?
So my question is: How to get the text to follow the path/line and/or circle, a thing that doesn't work for me when trying
the options mentioned in the Inscape manual. Would be great if there's an easy answer like 1,2,3 or a,b,c ...
Thanks,
Nick
How to add text to path?
Re: How to add text to path?
make text, make object
select both, Text>Put on Path
the manual is pretty good on this

Re: How to add text to path?
Great thanks but if I already have an object visible and want to make a text around it do I need to create that path/text on a new document and copy/paste it into the document with object?
Tried to do as you said and it works on a clean document but when I do it in the document with an object I've problems to choose and select the two I want [text and circle] without involving the already imported document. So, if done in the document with an object already there how do I select the two [path and text] I want to work with and create and then place over object ...?

Re: How to add text to path?
Hi Nick,
Oftentimes, zooming in will help with being able to select things that may be small, or in the midst of many other objects. Also if the text and/or objects are grouped (or maybe even combined), you'll have to either ungroup them, or use the Node tool to do the selecting. You can use Alt + click to select objects which are below other objects. Sometimes it's just impossible, and I find that I have to just temporarily move the objects that I need to select to the top of the document, either using layers, or Object menu > Raise to top. Then later, move the result back down into place.
You should not need to use another document to do this. I suppose it IS an option if you just can't make it work, but you should be able to make it work. If you still have trouble, you're welcome to attach the file (use Full editor/Post Reply and Upload attchments tab). Then we can look at it, and give you very specific steps.
