Welcome aboard!

Inkscape is more of a 2D vector editor, bending a raster image with it is not so possible.
You can trace bitmap and use some tricks like running a pattern along path extension but it won't be accurate nor realistic for a mockup.
Or try out some raster extensions? (Never used them myself.)

For similar need I have used blender -3D modelling program- before.
But gimp also has a filter to map a raster image around a cylinder, maybe that would be much easier.

(there's a raster extension being developed by ~suv, which does envelope deformation for raster images. It's not yet in the current Inkscape version (don't know if it includes 'perspective', though).)

Off topic:

Basic showcase now attached to the related report in the bug tracker (yes, it supports perspective, envelope and polar distortions).

Please note: the 'modify-image' extensions depend on Python Imaging modules which so far are not required dependencies of Inkscape. Most of them won't work for anyone using precompiled packages of Inkscape (i.e. on Windows or OS X) [1]. At this stage, there won't be any help provided to Inkscape users on Windows and OS X to make them work, either: Wand is a ctypes-based python binding for ImageMagick which requires to load shared libraries from ImageMagick at runtime - this likely would need some special efforts to support with (relocatable) Windows and OS X packages of Inkscape. Since the majority of members of this forum seem to be using Inkscape on Windows AFAICT, I likely won't further discuss the set of extensions here as long as they are under active development and not bundled with Inkscape (or implemented as internal extensions (plugins) like the existing 'Raster' extensions).

[1] Added later:
Current state (Inkscape 0.91):
  • Windows: the official packages do include the python module PIL (v1.1.6), but based on discussions on the devel mailing list it is broken with 64bit packages (due to the unfortunate mix of 64bit Inkscape with 32bit Python, see “PIL distributed inside Inkscape (Windows 64 bit)”).
  • OS X: image-modifying extensions supported by PIL/Pillow (see Readme.txt) do work with the official Inkscape package for OS X (it includes Pillow 2.7.0).
