instead of glued points

Postby Grobe » Thu May 05, 2011 12:16 am

Hi.

I know lot of people want to be able to add glue points to any path so that appearently one node can be "shared" by more then one path.

The workaround for this is to make two independed nodes snap to each other, and when moving those overlapped nodes, user must select both paths before he can move the two (or more) nodes.

Then it stroke me: Why not add an aditional little feature to the node tool?

Idea is this (very simple): Instead of
  1. Select all paths that has a node in same position.
  2. Draw a rectangle that covers an area containing the overlapping nodes.
  3. Move the nodes.

you can do this:
  1. Draw a rectangle that covers an area containing the overlapping nodes while holding down Ctrl button. Or hold down Ctrl and click on the node on top, then all nodes that is very close will also be selected, regardless what path they belong to.
  2. Move the nodes.

Any comment on this idea?

guess I don't understand what a glue point is?

inkscape does work differently then other ga programs I have used. I didn't know you could select nodes from separate paths at the same time.

I don't get what you mean by drawing a rectangle to select the nodes? with the node tool?

I'll keep trying

I'ts a fixed point with respect of the object it belongs to. It allow other object to snap to it. Snap point would be another word for it.

Yes it's possible.

Not the notes, but the object that they belongs to. Also you can just press'n hold Alt button to draw a line that selects everything it crosses.

Sometimes referred to as "rubberband select", or drawing a selection box -- it's just a way of selecting more than one item, whether with Selection tool :tool_selector: or Node tool :tool_node: .
