Recent nightly builds hangs in W7 - when saving

Postby Grobe » Thu Oct 06, 2011 6:14 am

r10646 and W7

Have never happends (with my computer) in windows XP.

My work in Inkscape often follows this routine:
  • Drag an image file into Inkscape desktop icon (so canvas dimensions excactly equals image dimensions)
  • Make a new layer [Ctrl+Shift+N] and name it "Background" or just short version "bg"
  • Move the image (dragged into and Linked to - not embed) to background layer
  • Lock bg layer, create new layer and draw something

Then, a couple of weeks ago, Inkscape began to hang everytime I was about to save [Ctrl+Shift+S -save as] the svg file. It hangs and everything was lost.
But before that, I have used most of the dev versions from modevia (and recently from Entwicklerversionen) and never before I get that problem.
The problem is that I don't know what makes this happens. Maybe an W7 update.
It doesn't hang when saving if there is no picture (jpg, png . . .) that is linked to.

Anyway, when using the official version - Inkscape 0.48.2 I don't experience the problem at all.
Going back to (by renaming the Inkscape folders) version r10646 the problems starts.

And using the dev. versions on windows XP seems to work flaweless. No hangs.

Anybody else that experience this - or is there filed a bug repport on a similar bug?

Haven't filed this as a bug report yet, because I don't know how to trigg the hang.
If I try the very latest dev. version, its likely to work the first times on W7 before it start to hang on saving.
