Hi, I want to convert all my text to path so that it will print properly with it's shadow (on someone else's printer) as a pdf file.
I created some text, duplicated it, then blurred and reduced opacity on the bottom layer of text, creating a nice shadow.
I have a few pieces of text on an 8x10" page. So I went to group it before I tried to change it to path, and I noticed that the shadow effect layer underneath lost it's blur and opacity when I grouped the text. Why is that? Is there a way to avoid losing the nice blur I achieved?
I am guessing at this point, I have to group all the text, or else when converting to path, the shadow layer underneath will not be converted, am I correct? What should I do?
Sorry about the 4 pictures, I don't see how to take 3 of them out!
Thanks!

Re: Grouping text changes shadow properties?
Hi.
Blurring is percentage based, on the object's bounding box size.
By adding the filter to a group you should get different appearance than when the same amount of blurring is added to the smaller objects inside one by one.
Converting the text to path alone should work -it will result in the characters converted to paths and put in a group.

Re: Grouping text changes shadow properties?
Ok, I figured it out - I converted each text piece to path first instead of trying to group them first
Thanks!
Thanks!

What is a shadow effect layer?
If you group things that are on different layers, maybe the effect that was applied to the layer is lost upon grouping into another layer?
(Groups cannot spread over layers, they can only be contained *in* a layer).
