Hi,

Can anyone give me any tips for smoothing curves?

I am designing a logo for someone and have traced an image which they provided and all is fine apart from the fact that the curves are a bit harsh. above and below the text there is a kind of long sine wave vector which I need to smooth.

I have played around with the nodes and handles but don't seem to get any better results. Is there some trick I can use?

I have tried selecting the surrounding nodes and clicking the 'make selected nodes smooth' but to no avail.

the pen tool is sometimes tricky to master. i would suggest a few things.

1. too many nodes can be cumbersome to blend. try deleting some if you have too many.

2. if you have cornered nodes then convert them to smooth or symmetric nodes

3. spiro would work brilliantly for your design. perhaps consider using the devel build for this project.

For the snake like shape like the one you have on the bottom I would only use 2 nodes (the ones at the end, they would obviously have to be cusp nodes.)
