as the subject it already is saying, I'm trying to set up some Hot Keys for "Align and Distribute". As an example, let's take "Center on vertical axis". Is it possible to bind that option to a button(Maybe to the button "a")? I already researched it a little bit, but couldn't find anything that helpfull.

I'm using Inkscape on a Windows XP host.

If you can find Inkscape/share/key/default.xml, it contains instructions for mapping keys. However, I don't think that command is mappable. The ones that are configurable can also be found in Help menu > Keys and Mouse Reference as well.

I could be wrong though.

I already thought it could be like that. While I searched the web, I found out that I have the possibility to alter the default.xml. Sadly I couldn't find anything regarding my question. Maybe the dev-team could give us some input regarding this question.

No, you are correct ;)

There are no verbs defined for the individual align and distribute commands, which could then be mapped to keyboard shortcuts. The feature request in the bug tracker is here: “align by keys like (alt-v) vertical align (alt-h) horizontal align”
