I'm sorry, this is probably a newbie question but I can't select text in the tool bar, only by opening the text and font menu.

I can select fonts size but not the fonts.

I am new to Inkscape. I have Windows Vista Home Preimum. Trying to change the Font I can
double click it but when I go to work area...it changes back to the default. I've searched and
searched for the solution but seems there is a bug with 0.46 version. Did change the Font by
Text>Text & Font>selecting Font> clicking the set as default. Can anyone guide me to an easier
way to change the Font?

there's some settings under:

"create new objects with:"

looks like you have two choices. . .

this worked. . .

i was in text mode, with my favorite font. . .

then went to preferences, and set myself to
"create new objects with" --> this tool's own style
then i clicked "take from selection"
that seemed to work. . . .

next time i started a text, the font was the one i had 'set up'
for the text tool

Thanks TOMasCRUZ for your help. Weird thing is if you click on the
Text tool> go to canvas>click on Text tool again the "!" icon
pops up beside the font and says something like Inkscape does
not have this font in it's program, but yet, it will use it !!!
This is a bug problem for sure. Some programmer should get
this fix soon.
