Win8 Bezier path effect

Postby BrianMiller » Fri Dec 11, 2015 8:00 pm

When trying to use the built in triangle in/out or ellipse path effect on a Bezier curve, the weight cannot be edited after creation. When I look at the path effects editor"power stroke" is listed instead of pattern along path. This is only happening on my Windows 8 machine. I have tried installing the previous release and even the portable version, but the result is the same. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Hi.

That is a new feature, the triangle shapes are implemented that way from 0.91.
Look for the pink handles with the node tool to thicken/shrink the triangle shape. You can change the width by pulling those handles.

If you check the powerstroke lpe's settings, you will see there are more possibilities than previously and you can vary the stroke by adding more handles/anchor points (not sure about the terminology here).

Hello

Nothing to add to Lazur comment

However, now I note that triangle in and triangle out now are seem to be the same. In previous versions, with "triangle in" if you did a trace from left to right, the triangle base was at the left, and the point in the right. With "triangle out", was the opposite.

Or perhaps I'm the only one !!??

@hulf2012: For me, they both used different directions when I tried this out for the first time. After that first time, I got the same result as you did, even with restarting Inkscape, and setting shape to none. No idea how that can be... Maybe it would be worth looking through the bug reports?

Hello Moini
Thanks for your feedback

I did a search with "powerstroke" words, but I don't see nothing related
Powerstroke

I'll try to send a bug report soon.

Update:
Done, let's see what happens

Maybe another topic should be open, or changed the title of this one??
