Hello. I'm new to Inkscape, having just downloaded the program a few days ago just to re-do this.
It's coming close to completion, but I'm encountering a small problem: as I'm trying to make the default Sans text italicised, it's not doing so. Can you tell me if it's just another bug, or if I've done anything wrong?
Thanks,

[solved] Italics are not working
Re: Italics are not working
Do you have "Sans" font on your PC? I ask this because despite it listing Sans on mine by default, I don't actaully have a font called "Sans" installed. The other thing is that Inkscape can only bold and italic fonts that inlcude a bold and italic face. So you can't use emphasis on all fonts.
Re: Italics are not working
I don't see it on my system either. And even worse, the program's not allowing me to change the font even after I've typed in something. What to do now?

Re: Italics are not working
I just found a solution!
Now they should be working just fine.
As for the re-draw, I'll just have to start from scratch...again.

Why do you need to start from scratch just to change the fonts?
Re: Italics are not working
It's because the area around the island isn't filling in the right way.
