Greetings
I'm new to tracing so I'm asking for good Inkscape material on it: tutorials, advices, and what is more important, examples of tracing in both modes (single and multi). For example I tried this image. After tracing it was nice result, but all a single integrated object. I used break apart, then I had the resultant objects were all the same color. Then I gave black outline and white fill, but the result was pretty different to what I got just afer tracing. That's why I'd really appreciate help and examples on tracing so I can follow your steps. Thanks in advance.
God bless you all

Re: Help on Tracing
Are you tracing it so you can colour it? If so, I find it best to trace it using a single scan with brightness cutoff. The image you are using should work beautifully. I think I also check the option to remove background so I get just the black lines (without white background).
This is now suitable for colouring without breaking the the object apart. Breaking it apart just complicate things. To colour it I draw coloured objects behind the lines. But the really quick and easy way it to use
in Inkscape 0.46. Doing it this way allows you to layer multiple objects to create compicated colouring effects. For example you could draw and object that has the base colour overlayed by an object for hilights and another object for shadow.
I hope this helps.

Also, if you find the Inkscape tracing results isn't to your liking (i.e. it's rounding corners, missing detail, having difficulty tracing fine lines) try http://vectormagic.stanford.edu/

Re: Help on Tracing
Thanks a lot Microugly, your suggestion was very helpful. But 0.46 was already released? Had no idea! Is it stable and all the stuff?

It hasn't been released yet, but I see no reason not to use if you require the extra functions now. You can have both 0.45 and 0.46 installed so if you run into issues, report them and switch back to using 0.45.
